Population
The population is 48,215 with 15,284 households to-date. With good transport access and conveniently position between Kanazawa and Komatsu, increase in housing and residents are continuing to rise. The population is distribution is 16.5% children (ages 0-14), 66.9% at a working age (15-64) and 16.4% elderly (65+). Like other towns and cities in Japan, Nomi city is experiencing an ageing population and a decreasing birthrate. However with moving in of younger people, compared to the prefectural average, it has a moderate rate of age increase.

Area
Nomi City has an area of 83.85km2; 43% comprising of forestry, 20% agricultural land, 12% residential and the other remaining 25% for other uses. The Tatsunokuchi area homes most of the forestry area with man made coniferous forests of Japanese cedar, Japanese cypress, red pine and black pine. The natural forestry consists mainly of broadleaf trees. The average yearly temperature is 14.1℃ and annual rainfall is 2135.4mm, a climate with is typical of those regions facing the Japanese Sea however, slightly on the warmer side.
City Emblem
The City emblem consists of three の (no) characters, forming a well balanced circular arrangement, with the central lines of the three の (no) characters forming an equilateral triangle. Its modern streamline design of combining both sharp geometries and a circular touch give it a feeling of simplicity and softness.
The three colors represent the blue of the sea, the green of the mountains and the orange of the clay of Kutani. The city emblem symbolizes how the city utilizes the rich natural environment, longstanding history and culture to further prosper into the future.
